Choose New Spells

I apparently have, over the weekend, gained enough experience points that I have gone up a level.

[Pause while a hush falls over the crowd, awed and appalled by the overt geekness of it all]

Friday I fought with a computer at work that was infected with some unnamed virus. I have been fighting this particular computer for a week or so, and keeping things from getting worse without resolving the problem. Frustrating. I spent two hours Friday afternoon, trying to find a way to finally remove the beast, all to no avail.

Monday I cleaned out Othello’s computer, deeply infected with a variety of bugs, in two hours. Tuesday I walked into the office, returned to the offending computer, and cleaned it up in 45 minutes. Tuesday at lunch someone brought me their personal laptop, infected with something Norton wouldn’t remove, and in 45 minutes had researched it, tried three layers of correction, and cleaned it up.

Friday: Impotent
Monday: Potent
Tuesday: Competent

I experienced a step increase in my powers and abilities. I can only assume that I am a character in AD&D, multiclassed with “computer geek” as one of my classes, and I have gone up a level. Good thing; I’ve some fairly nasty things I must do in Crystal Reports (no relation to Zelda).

[rubs hands] Now I just need to figure out how to Level in my Writer class….

      1. Yeah, i’m running AdAware, but no luck w/the Lavasoft add-on.
Looks like i’ll just have to take my chances and edit the registry…bleh.

        Thanks, anyway.

  1. I am now possessed of teh madd 1337 skilz, but I decline to clean out your gastro-intestinal tract. Your alimentary canal is your own, and you must deal with things that arise from how you associate with it.

  2. EEwwww crystal report stuff.. I have never had the joy of personally playing with crystal reporting, though I have seen the templates etc being edited and such.

Good thing you leveled up, you will need those extra skills I think.

    1. It is evil. I am self-teaching through trial and error, and am near passing the expertise of the company expert, who has had classes and books. I look forward to my next level, if not the process.

      1. I know that feeling, I actually made a suggestion to one my companies experts about the template he was having trouble with, that worked. Woot!

I have also managed to solve problems in other software that the company expert who had the relevant training etc, could not fix. All by trial and error.

Soon you shall ascend to the next level, regail in your glory once you do.

  3. I am certain that there is a sort of distant fondness for your alimentary canal, but I know I would remember if I had loved either end of it.
